The Walrus is a collective effort: editors, writers, fact checkers, designers, illustrators, production, events, and partnerships. For the last few years, we have been pushing each other to rethink what our journalism can be and who it can speak to.

This year, the SAG Awards are going through a total rebrand - okay, mostly just the name, but it's name is its whole identity. Host Kristen Bell has a lot on her plate, as she has to inform every SAG-AFTRA member about the name change in a new trailer for the show, including her Nobody Wants This co-star, Adam Brody, who doesn't seem to remember her when she calls.

CMOs are navigating a convergence of challenges: political and economic uncertainty, rapid technological upheaval driven by artificial intelligence, and a decline in mass-reach media, forcing them to seek new channels, such as influencer marketing, to continue connecting with consumers. All the while, they're under growing scrutiny to prove marketing's direct impact on the bottom line. We want to showcase the CMOs who are leading from the top and inspiring the next generation of marketers.

The televised main event begins at 8 p.m. It will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+ With Showtime. Leading this year's nominations is Kendrick Lamar, who has nine nods and will be looking to repeat in several categories, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year. Trailing the rapper are Lady Gaga, Jack Antonoff, and producer Cirkut, who have seven apiece. You can read the full nominations list here. Lady Gaga has been announced as a performer at the 2026 Grammy Awards. She's up for seven trophies-the second-most of any nominee, tied with producers Jack Antonoff and Cirkut-including Album of the Year for and Record and Song of the Year for its single " Abracadabra." The other performers at the 2026 Grammys are: Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Clipse and Pharrell Williams, Reba McEntire, all of this year's Best New Artist nominees, and Lauryn Hill, who will perform a tribute to D'Angelo and Roberta Flack.

The winner will join an august group of past LOTY honorees, including Chief Justice John Roberts (2012) and President Barack Obama (2008). But the contest has room for "fun" as well.

With six nominees in most categories, separate nominations for comedy/musical and drama, television and podcast buckets too, it seems there would be enough to go around. And yet that's hardly ever the case. Others left out include Joe Rogan, Sydney Sweeney and Gwyneth Paltrow, leaving room for plenty of surprise inclusions. Here are some of the biggest snubs and surprises of the morning.

Jonny Greenwood and Max Richter are among the picks for Best Original Score for a Motion Picture, recognized for the much-garlanded One Battle After Another and Hamnet, respectively. Nick Cave and the National's Bryce Dessner, meanwhile, became first-time Golden Globe nominees. The pair are up for Best Original Song for a Motion Picture for their title track to the Netflix drama Train Dreams, alongside the likes of Miley Cyrus ( Avatar: Fire and Ash)

For the first time, the President's Awards for Employee Excellence united Cornell employees across time zones and continents, as staff gathered in the Statler Ballroom and tuned in from New York City and Qatar to celebrate the achievements and contributions of their colleagues. More than 75 employees were honored in this year's ceremony on Dec. 3, representing Cornell's Ithaca campus as well as Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City and Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar.

The list will feature early- and mid-career marketing professionals from consumer and business-to-business brands who are demonstrating their potential to become future leaders. These talented marketers are helping position their marketing departments as growth centers for their companies. They may be breaking new ground in areas such as artificial intelligence, influencer marketing, partnerships, and data analysis. They will have demonstrated how they have pushed their teams and their companies forward.

The Latin Recording Academy unveiled the first slate of performers for the 26th annual Latin Grammy Awards, which will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Nov. 13. Among the artists announced were música Mexicana acts Carín León, Pepe Aguilar and Los Tigres del Norte; sad sierreño singer-songwriters Ivan Cornejo and DannyLux; Latin pop icon Gloria Estefan, and Colombian rock band Morat.
