Lawler waited for Jeffries outside of a meeting room and pressed him to sign on to a one-year extension of Obamacare subsidies, which expire under the current GOP funding bill that the Democrats have blocked. The tense exchange was shared online by several Congressional reporters who recorded it.

The Trump administration is asking Congress for an extra $58 million to bolster security for the executive and judicial branches following the fatal shooting of conservative figure Charlie Kirk, according to a White House official. The request to include the extra funding in an upcoming stopgap bill comes ahead of a Sept. 30 deadline when the current federal spending law runs out.
