The Braves lost to the Mariners 5-4 after leading 4-0, with questionable pitching decisions impacting the game outcome.
Chad Tracy sent Ranger Suarez back to the mound for the eighth inning after throwing 90 pitches through seven innings. The Alex Cora-led Red Sox likely go to the bullpen with a five-run lead in that spot.
After the first two games of the series, things resumed in Los Angeles with the Brewers fighting for their playoff lives in Game 3 of the NLDS against the Dodgers. Tyler Glasnow wasn't as sharp as last time out or as the first two starters of the series, but he limited the damage during his time in the game, handing things over to the pen that went 3.1 scoreless innings after being extremely well rested.
Yet, Toronto won the division this season and the No. 1 seed in the American League. The Jays lineup was on fire heading into their ALCS series against the Seattle Mariners - fresh off a 15-inning affair of their own - but none of it mattered. Toronto lost their first two games at home, and are closing in on a brutal collapse fans north of the border won't forget for a long time.
There's no two ways about it: Sandy Alcantara should be starting for the Miami Marlins Tuesday night. The only thing better than having your ace on the mound in a must-win series? Having him on the mound for two must-win series. That's what the Marlins are passing up by not giving Alcantara the ball on five days rest Tuesday, positioning him to take the hill again on five days rest Sunday against the Mets.
