Parndon Wood Nature Reserve has earned the Green Flag Award for the 17th consecutive year, the Town Park for its tenth, and the Museum and Walled Gardens for its sixth, showcasing the sustained commitment to maintaining high standards in these green spaces.
Fanny Wilkinson worked hard for many years to design public gardens, making green spaces and fresh drinking water available for all to enjoy, and it's an absolute pleasure to know that my sculpture will help to commemorate her pioneering professionalism.
The city's Park and Recreation Department is seeking new funding solutions to address a $700 million maintenance backlog while expanding parkland without adequate resources.
Paul Richard, an Indigenous former City of Toronto gardener who has spearheaded the park's revitalization since 2020, states, "It's time, after all our work, for the city to walk its talk on their support for the project."

The group seem to think that the local open parks are there for their own personal use. There are always children playing in the streets - It is a matter of time until a child is killed.
"I've lived here for 30 years. The school has already expanded twice. When will it stop? This is a residential area, and it's crowded enough as it is," Barrios stated, emphasizing her deep-rooted concern over continued expansions that encroach on community spaces.
