This summer will be transformational for soccer in our region. With the World Cup final drawing international attention to the region, Gotham FC is using the match to reinforce the narrative that women's soccer belongs on the same stage, not on the sidelines, putting the club's players front and center when a global spotlight is on New York.

According to the Lawn Tennis Association, only 15,000 British players picked up a padel racket in 2019 but by the end of 2024, that figure was more than 400,000. Of those, about 399,000 are probably mispronouncing it: think pah-dell rather than paddle.

The Liberal Democrats have submitted an amendment to the ongoing Football Governance Bill, aiming to make at least 10 Premier League matches available on free-to-air TV each season.
