On Saturday morning, shortly after 6 a.m., the bodies of two individuals were found in the San Joaquin River, the county sheriff's office said. The deceased were removed from the water near where the San Joaquin River and Old River meet. The sheriff's office said foul play is not suspected, although no further details about how the people died was released.

"Houghton's Pond is a fantastic place to enjoy summer recreational activities, and we're pleased to have the opportunity to transport people to the pond with the pilot 716 direct bus service this summer on Saturdays," MBTA General Manager and CEO Phillip Eng said in a release.

Swimming in the Bay is generally safe and free, but remember, it’s busy with boats and has swift currents that can catch swimmers off guard.

This natural swimming hole is known as the Homestead Crater. The caldera is 10,000 years in the making and contains extremely unique and impressive geologic features.
