Protesters have taken to the sea in Weymouth over the sudden removal of the beloved floating sea rafts which had been in place for over 80 years over health and safety concerns.

"It is with profound gratitude and appreciation that I have made the difficult decision to step down as Mayor of Weymouth. I am confident that I am leaving Weymouth in very good hands and that the future will only continue to get brighter."

Mario Diaz Obando, 29, of Fall River, was critically injured when a house under construction on Vine Street collapsed in Weymouth, dying later at South Shore Hospital.
