Apple using the Wallet app for adverts has me very worried for the future of iOS
Briefly

Apple's latest marketing campaign has drawn ire from users as the company's Wallet app begins sending push notifications for movie ticket discounts. This decision, perceived as a misuse of a financial management app, has disappointed users, leading to concerns expressed on platforms like Reddit. Many view the ads as inappropriate, with some suggesting a potential exit from Apple's ecosystem if this practice continues. As of now, Apple hasn't confirmed if ads will be a permanent feature in Wallet, leaving users questioning the future of their financial privacy.
Roping an essential app like Wallet into a marketing campaign is, if you ask me, about ten steps too far. There's something both tacky and irresponsible about using an app dedicated to storing and spending money to try and sell users something.
Serving ads in a core functionality 1st party app is scummy. It undermines user trust and the core purpose of the app, especially one meant for personal finances.
The lack of ads is one of my core decisions for being in Apples walled garden. If they're going the route of being just a more expensive Windows/Android OS provider, I'll look for greener pastures.
