Niklas Bildstein Zaar's architecture studio, Sub, was chosen for the prestigious Venice Architecture Biennale, despite its background in designing stage sets for fashion and music. Known for an austere, postindustrial aesthetic, Sub intends to adapt its style to resonate with a wider audience at the event. The firm strives to merge its experience from the worlds of fashion and art to create an engaging exhibition. The Biennale features both a central exhibition and individual national pavilions, highlighting Sub's innovative design system for the main show.
We're working with materials that have a kind of attitude, reflecting our experience in fashion and art for a new kind of audience.
If it managed to dress itself slightly different, it could get a much bigger audience, appealing to visitors beyond the traditional architectural crowd.
