Ten five-car Coradia Stream electric trains will serve a new Barcelona airport express linking the city centre and Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, with service expected between late 2026 and early 2027 and journeys just over 20 minutes. The 22.7-kilometre route will include nine stations and run every 15 minutes, connecting both Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2). Testing is underway at Alstom's Santa Perpètua de Mogoda site covering traction, braking, signalling and telecommunications. Each train offers 202 seats, capacity for up to 656 passengers, luggage racks, 20 information screens with flight displays, exterior LED panels, step-free boarding and PRM facilities. Trains are built in Catalonia with eco-design, energy-efficient traction and recyclability to lower life-cycle costs and reduce road congestion and CO₂ emissions.
