"Nine schools in Halton region have received anonymous bomb threats on Thursday morning, say police. But classes are still in session and schools have not been placed on hold and secure for the time being, said Halton police on social media. Parents and students will notice an increased police presence at each of the following schools."
"The threats come just days after 16 Toronto schools received unfounded bomb threats. Similar threats were also made to 11 Toronto high schools in March. Toronto police determined that none of those threats were credible. Only two schools were temporarily evacuated Tuesday, per decisions made by their principle, and students were allowed back inside a few hours later."
Nine schools across Halton's public and Catholic school boards received anonymous bomb threats on Thursday morning. Police responded by increasing their presence at each school and conducting searches as part of their investigation. Classes continued as scheduled and schools were not placed on hold and secure. The Halton District School Board confirmed that five of their schools became aware of online threats early Thursday and immediately notified police. School officials prioritized student and staff safety while maintaining normal operations. This incident follows similar unfounded threats made to Toronto schools earlier in the week, where police determined none were credible.
