The 2025 Rivian R1S represents a second generation with significant updates in electric architecture, motor arrangement, and performance features. The tri-motor configuration delivers 805 horsepower and 1,105 pound-feet of torque, enabling a 0-60 mph time of 2.9 seconds. An all-new 141.5 kWh battery provides a range of 371 to 405 miles and supports rapid charging. Further improvements include a streamlined electronic system featuring only seven ECUs, reducing complexity and weight, enhancing manufacturability, and enabling quicker production times.
Kyle Lobo stated, "We clean-sheeted all of the electronics and harnesses in the vehicle, and placed controllers in zones where we could reduce the overall number of wires."
Going from 17 ECUs to just seven improved manufacturability by reducing overall system weight by 44 pounds and cut out over 1.6 miles of harness.
The 2025 Rivian R1S Premium Tri-Motor features an output of 805 horsepower and 1,105 pound-feet of torque, achieving 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds.
The only battery available is the brand's Max spec at 141.5 kWh, with a charging rate of 220 kW and a range of 371 to 405 miles.
