White Sox pummel Pirates 10-1 to open second half
Briefly

Luis Robert Jr. and Edgar Quero propelled the White Sox to a decisive 10-1 win over the Pirates with two hits and two RBIs each. Quero’s solo home run and Robert's home run initiated a dominant scoring spree. Jonathan Cannon pitched seven strong innings, allowing only one run. The White Sox's offensive crown included contributions from Benintendi and Montgomery, while the Pirates struggled offensively. Their single run came from Cruz, who also led with two hits, but it was not enough to avert their losing streak.
Quero's solo home run with two outs off Pirates starter Bailey Falter kickstarted a three-run first inning and Robert hit his 10th home run in the fourth to begin the rout.
Jonathan Cannon backed the offense with a quality start, giving up one run on five hits, not walking a batter and striking out two over seven innings.
Chicago broke the game open with two more runs in the sixth and four in the seventh, highlighted by a bases-clearing double by Michael A. Taylor.
Pittsburgh tallied its lone run when Oneil Cruz drove in Bryan Reynolds, but suffered its ninth loss in the past 10 games.
