Sweet Fingers on the move; plus the East Bay loses multiple sandwich shops, a juice bar and more in April
"Hummus Republic in Alameda has closed. The national website no longer lists this location, and Yelpers have also reported that it closed. The chain shop serves customizable bowls, wraps, sandwiches, pita, and fries."
"A former employee of the 20-year-old pie shop in Berkeley has filed a $180,000 lawsuit against the restaurant. The pizza spot seems to be closed, at least temporarily, and its website is also set to private. A recent visit by Nosh during regular opening hours found the open sign illuminated but the restaurant completely locked up."
"The tea and snack shop that opened in 2022 and served boba drinks and jianbing has closed. A tipster also notes that it was the only place in town to serve a Korean egg sandwich. There's a sign on the windows that says a new restaurant, Dropo Sushi, is coming soon."
East Bay Nosh reported several restaurant closures across the region during April and May 2026. Hummus Republic in Alameda, which served customizable bowls, wraps, and sandwiches, closed with confirmation from its national website and Yelp reports. Bobby G's Pizzeria, a 20-year-old Berkeley establishment, appears temporarily or permanently closed following a $180,000 lawsuit filed by a former employee, with its website set to private. Juice Appeal closed its North Berkeley location at Epicurious Gardens food hall, with an ice cream shop planned as replacement. Pink Cloud Tea & More, which opened in 2022 and uniquely served Korean egg sandwiches alongside boba drinks and jianbing, also closed, with Dropo Sushi announced as its successor.
