Many homebuyers are moving south from Boston into southeastern Massachusetts to find lower-priced homes and more space. Home sales increased in Bristol County by more than 6 percent year-over-year and in Plymouth County by more than 2 percent, while Norfolk was flat and Middlesex fell about 1.5 percent. Since mid-2020, Bristol County has experienced the most price growth but still has one of the lowest median sale prices near $555,000. High Greater Boston prices and elevated mortgage rates push first-time buyers toward South Coast markets where homes can cost up to $200,000 less.
