Europe Follows In China's Footsteps With Megawatt EV Charging

Ionity, supported by major automakers, will soon launch megawatt-capable charging stations in Europe, offering up to 600 kW for compatible EVs. Currently, Ionity operates over 5,000 chargers at 350 kW. The new stations will feature the Alpitronic HYC 1000 system, which can split power among up to four stalls. While promising faster charging similar to fueling gasoline cars, no European EVs currently support the maximum power output, showcasing the need for further advancements in EV technology.
The new megawatt-capable stations from Ionity will deliver up to 600 kW to compatible EVs, promising significantly faster charging times for electric vehicles in Europe.
Ionity is set to roll out the Alpitronic HYC 1000 system, which will be the first of its kind in Europe, enhancing the region’s ultra-fast charging capabilities.
