Berkeley Food Pantry merges with Berkeley Food Network
Briefly

Berkeley Food Network is assuming management of the Berkeley Food Pantry, marking a merger with minimal expected impact on operations. Contract details are being finalized, and a six-month transition will focus on evaluating current operations. Listening sessions will be held for feedback from staff and volunteers. The pantry, a key resource since 1969, serves around 4,000 residents monthly and partners with local grocers. The pantry will remain open and operational during the transition, with expectations of a seamless merger experience for the public.
According to Andrew Crispin, executive director of the network, contract details are still being finalized. However, talks have concluded and the pantry will now enter a six-month transition period, where BFN will conduct research to evaluate how the pantry currently operates.
Genie Stowers, head of the Berkeley Food Pantry Oversight Committee, said there are no plans to pause distribution or close the pantry in the future and the two organizations hope the merger will feel seamless to the public.
