The annual Mini Marathon, now in its 43rd year, saw around 28,000 participants despite gloomy weather that improved by noon. Grace Richardson won the race with a time of 34:17, followed by Claire Fagan and Jessica Craig. Notably, the event raised over €2 million this year, adding to a total exceeding €255 million since 1982. Many participants, including Amy Kane and her family, ran for charitable causes, honoring their late daughter Grace, who received care from LauraLynn Children's Hospice. Kane emphasized the hospice's support extended beyond her daughter to the entire family.
"Grace was a triplet, so her sisters Cara and Chloe were premature as well, they were born at 32 weeks. We had to stay in LauraLynn for three weeks before Grace passed away."
"My little girl Grace was under the care of LauraLynn. She was unfortunately diagnosed with meningitis when she was 18 days old. She was under the care of LauraLynn and she passed away at three months old."
