Mother who lost family in Buncrana pier tragedy ten years ago thanks community as hundreds attend memorial walk
""I need to honour them in the best way and in every way that I can. Everybody is here supporting Rioghnach-Ann too and she knows her brothers are living on in a really good way in their memory.""
""It has been absolutely amazing to see so many people come out and support us just the way we wanted. It's fantastic. All I can say is thank you.""
Ten years ago, a tragic accident in Buncrana resulted in the deaths of Sean McGrotty, his two sons, and other family members. Rioghnach-Ann McGrotty, only four months old at the time, survived after being passed to Davitt Walsh, a passerby who swam to help. On the anniversary, over 1,500 people gathered to remember the victims, with Louise James, the mother of Rioghnach-Ann, expressing gratitude for the support and emphasizing the importance of honoring her family positively.
