"BOROUGH PARK - MAIMONIDES MEDICAL CENTER HAS BEEN AWARDED GRANTS from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation. Named for an indefatigable immigrant nun from Italy who helped the needy in Brooklyn and beyond, the Mother Cabrini Foundation recently awarded its 2025 Year-End Grants, including $1.5 million in healthcare workforce funding to enable Maimonides Medical Center to strengthen its Nurse Residency Program and $400,000 in general funding for its Brooklyn Parenting Center."
"Maimonides' Nurse Residency Program provides opportunities for newly licensed graduate nurses to successfully transition from student to professional nurse, offered in collaboration with Vizient and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. All new-hire nurses with less than one year of experience are automatically enrolled in the program upon joining Maimonides. The $400,000 grant to the BPC will support Maimonides in bolstering in-person care navigation, distributing additional baby-safety goods, evaluating program impact and continuing to build program sustainability."
Maimonides Medical Center received $1.5 million for workforce development and $400,000 for the Brooklyn Parenting Center from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation. The $1.5 million will strengthen the Nurse Residency Program in collaboration with Vizient and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. All new-hire nurses with less than one year of experience are automatically enrolled in the residency program. The $400,000 will bolster in-person care navigation, distribute baby-safety goods, evaluate program impact, and support sustainability. The Brooklyn Parenting Center launched in September 2023 as a resilience-based program integrating mental healthcare and parental support. Mother Cabrini had a strong Brooklyn presence and a school she founded is now a park named for her.
