"Under our stewardship the cafes have trebled in turnover and the [Parliament Hill] Lido has gone from a seasonal to a year-round business. They have become affordable community hubs appreciated by tens of thousands of customers."
"Alderman Gregory Jones, chair of the City of London Corporation's Hampstead Heath, Highgate Wood and Queen's Park Committee, said Hoxton Beach had been given 'ample notice and clear expectations' about its tenancy and the remarketing process."
The City of London Corporation, which manages green spaces including Hampstead Heath as a registered charity, is seeking possession of three cafes at Parliament Hill Lido, Highgate Wood, and Queen's Park currently operated by Hoxton Beach. Following a remarketing exercise, Daisy Green was awarded contracts to run two of the cafes. Hoxton Beach received formal notice in January that tenancies would end February 2 and subsequently launched a judicial review challenging whether the corporation acted unlawfully. Hoxton Beach claims the cafes have trebled in turnover and become community hubs under their management. The operator disputes the corporation's decision, citing a petition from 25,000 park users and requesting the corporation fulfill its legal duty of candour by releasing decision-making documents.
