This Budget Airline Is Ending All Flights From the Los Angeles Area

Avelo Airlines will end operations at the Hollywood Burbank Airport, reducing service starting Aug. 12 and fully ceasing by Dec. 2. CEO Andrew Levy stated that current conditions do not offer adequate financial returns. Regular flights included destinations in California, Washington, and Oregon. Avelo plans to shift its focus to strengthening its presence on the East Coast. Passengers are advised to cancel future flights booked from Burbank online for refunds. The Burbank airport is popular due to lower passenger frequency, with 6.55 million users in 2024, a rise from 2023.

Starting Aug. 12, Avelo will reduce its presence to one aircraft in the market before completely ending service in Burbank on Dec. 2.
Passengers with future flights booked from Burbank will need to cancel their reservations online to receive a refund.
Avelo first launched in 2021 with flights from Burbank to several destinations, including California, Washington, and Oregon.
