Clayton Kershaw announced his retirement effective at season's end and has increased motivation to win a World Series. Kershaw made one postseason appearance, allowing five runs (four earned) across two innings in NLDS Game 3. The team will consider using Kershaw in Games 3–5 at Dodger Stadium if game situations warrant his involvement. Kershaw shifted to a relief role late in the season, made a bullpen appearance in an 11-inning win, and then took the final start of his career. He adapted to the role with professionalism and helped the team down the stretch.
