College Point man charged in fatal stabbing of Corona man: NYPD - QNS

Carlos Castro Alvarado, a 26-year-old man from College Point, has been charged with the second-degree murder of Fabian Chimbo, a 32-year-old from Corona. Alvarado was arrested on July 15, following a stabbing incident that occurred on the night of May 10. Witnesses, video evidence, and Alvarado's own statements indicated he stabbed Chimbo multiple times. After being charged, Alvarado was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court and remanded without bail. Chimbo succumbed to his injuries after being found with multiple stab wounds and taken to the hospital.
On the night of Saturday, May 10, police from the 115th Precinct responded to a 911 call of an assault in progress in front of 34-27 96th St. in Corona just after 7:40 p.m. Officers found Chimbo with multiple stab wounds to his body.
Alvarado was arrested based on information provided by witnesses, recovered video surveillance and statements he made to detectives at the 115th Precinct that he had stabbed Chimbo in his neck and torso.
