A secondary school student stabbed an art teacher in southern France on Tuesday, leaving the 60-year-old in critical condition, the local public prosecutor said. The pupil, in a class of early teenagers, stabbed the teacher at least three times. He was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, said Raphael Balland, the public prosecutor in the southern city of Toulon. France's education minister, Edouard Geffray, said that he was headed to La Guicharde secondary school, where the stabbing took place, in the town of Sanary-sur-Mer.

A man has been rushed to hospital after suffering a stab wound in Limerick this morning. The man sustained at least one stab wound to the side of his abdomen. He was found injured in the Carew Park area of the city around 11am this morning, and then rushed by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick. Police are investigating after a man was slashed across the face in the Lower East Side early Sunday morning. According to police sources, the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 4 outside the Mr. Purple Bar and Lounge, located at 180 Orchard St. Cops say a 25-year-old man was approached by an unidentified suspect and slashed across the face.
