Police are investigating whether the man accused of trying to kill 10 people during the Huntingdon train attack is linked to a string of knife incidents in the hours before the bloody rampage. Anthony Williams, 32, was charged on Monday morning with 10 counts of attempted murder after an attack on an LNER train to London King's Cross on Saturday evening.
We are aware of three incidents that occurred in Peterborough on Friday evening (31 October) and Saturday morning (1 November). The first incident of a man with a knife at a barber's in Fletton happened at 7.25pm on Friday but was reported to us at 9.10pm two hours after the incident occurred. At the time of reporting the man was no longer there and had not returned, so we did not send officers, but a crime was raised.

A man has been charged with murder after a teenager who was loved by many was stabbed to death in broad daylight in south London, the Metropolitan Police have said. Paramedics treated the 19-year-old near Clapham Junction station for stab wounds before rushing him to hospital, where he sadly died three days later. The nearby Beauchamp Road and an adjoining street were cordoned off by the force for several hours after the stabbing, which is believed to be an isolated incident.
A shooting near Howard University has left at least four people shot, police in Washington DC said. The shooting happened as thousands descended on the campus for homecoming celebrations. Police responded to shots being fired at 8.23pm on the 600 block of Howard Place, near the university's Yard and the School of Architecture building. Police say the shooting left one person in critical condition and one person in serious condition.
Police in Kennebunk, Maine are looking for a man who, they say, pocketed more than $7,000 in cash that was left in a roadway after falling off the roof of a car. A report of stolen property came in on Oct. 15, the Kennebunk Police Department said on Facebook. "An older male was seen picking up approximately $7,400 in cash that had fallen from the roof of the car of its rightful owner. The money was from the sale of a vehicle," the department said.
PARIS A brazen robbery at the Louvre Museum in Paris Sunday morning has left investigators searching for several men who made off with what officials describe as "priceless" jewels. A spokesperson for the museum told NPR the suspects entered shortly after the museum opened, breaking in through a window that led to the Apollo Gallery, which houses some of the museum's most valuable treasures. Armed with small chainsaws and box cutters, they smashed display cases before fleeing on Yamaha TMax scooters toward a nearby highway.
By Bay City Two teenagers were shot in Stockton's Civic District early Saturday morning. The 17 and 18-year-old boys were in the 1300 block of North Lincoln Street at about 2 a.m. when they were both shot, according to the Stockton Police Department. They were taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries, and both were expected to survive.
Officers from the 70th Precinct responded to a 911 call about the incident and examined the remains, which were confined within a garbage bag. The remains were a man's head and torso, according to published reports. An official police report said the male had suffered trauma to the body. How the victim died is unknown; the remains were transferred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

NEW YORK CITY - A man was slashed, and another person was pushed onto the subway tracks at a Manhattan subway station late Saturday night, police said. The incident happened at the 57th Street subway station in Midtown around 11:10 p.m. A 39-year-old man was found slashed in the left hand, and a 37-year-old man who was pushed onto the tracks suffered an elbow injury.
Police are concerned for the safety of a young woman reportedly kidnapped in east London. A 42-year-old man from east London was arrested last Wednesday on suspicion of kidnap in relation to the incident and bailed while enquiries continue. An investigation by the Metropolitan Police's Central East Criminal Investigations Unit is ongoing. Three male suspects are believed to have stolen around $200,000 from a jeweler at knifepoint when he stopped to fix a flat tire in Woodland Hills on Monday evening. QUEENS, NY - Police are searching for a suspect who shot a 15-year-old boy on a Queens street Tuesday afternoon. The incident happened near the intersection of Springfield Boulevard and Union Turnpike around 2:50 p.m., police said. Officers found the boy with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to Cohen Children's Medical Center in stable condition. The suspect fled the scene after the shooting, police said.
OAKLAND - A man was found fatally shot Tuesday morning in an East Oakland park, authorities said. Authorities were trying to identify the victim and notify any next of kin before publicly releasing his name. He was found dead just before 8 a.m. Tuesday in Arroyo Viejo Park, not far from the entrance at Olive and Ritchie streets. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.
Police are searching for a suspect who fatally assaulted a fellow patient inside Lincoln Hospital in the South Bronx last month, law enforcement sources said. According to the NYPD, Cynthia Vann, of Concourse Village, was admitted to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln on Sept. 10 for an unrelated medical condition when she was punched multiple times in the head by another patient as she slept and required emergency surgery. Vann remained hospitalized in critical condition until she died on Sept. 27.
Provincial police say they are investigating a "significant disturbance" that involved pepper spray and multiple altercations in the crowd of a high school football game in Caledon, Ont., Friday. Officers in attendance at Friday night's game at Humberview Secondary School responded around 8 p.m. to reports of pepper spray being deployed amongst "a large gathering of students" in the crowd, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said in a news release Monday.
Iris Stalzer, the recently elected mayor of Herdecke in the western German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, was discovered critically injured in her apartment, authorities said on Tuesday. Security sources told reporters the center-left Social Democrat politician had suffered several stab wounds. Public broadcaster WDR first reported the incident. Emergency services found Stalzer alive but in life-threatening condition. Police have not released further details about possible suspects or motives.
