A person was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon in Fremont, police said. Officers were called at 4:19 p.m. for reports of a shooting at Central Avenue and Joseph Street, according to the Fremont Police Department. They arrived to find the victim on the ground. Officers provided medical aid, but the victim later died from their injuries, police said. The death marked the city's second homicide of the year. An investigation is underway, police said, but no other details were released Tuesday night.

WILLOWBROOK, Calif. -- The murder of former Oakland Raiders defensive lineman Kevin Johnson may be connected to three separate murders of homeless people living in encampments along the Los Angeles River near Willowbrook, sometimes called Compton Creek. Johnson's body was found at a homeless encampment next to Compton Creek on Jan. 21. His cause of death was listed as "blunt head trauma" and "stab wounds," and the manner of death was ruled a homicide, according to L.A. County Medical Examiner records.

WILMINGTON, Del. -- The first husband of former first lady Jill Biden has been charged with killing his wife at their Delaware home in late December, authorities announced in a news release Tuesday. William Stevenson, 77, of Wilmington was married to Jill Biden from 1970 to 1975. Caroline Harrison, the Delaware Attorney General's spokesperson, confirmed in a phone call that Stevenson is the former husband of Jill Biden.

Officers initially went to a home on Mulberry Street at 3:38 p.m. Sunday to investigate a suspicious death, the Newark Police Department said in a news release. They arrived to find an unresponsive man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified the man only as a 36-year-old Newark resident. Detectives are investigating the death as a homicide, police said, adding that the circumstances surrounding the case, including the cause of death, are still being assessed.

OAKLAND When he was just 3 years old, Stacy Tidwell IV's father was shot and killed in a parking lot behind his North Oakland home. At around 10 p.m. on Dec. 29, 2025, Tidwell suffered a similar fate. He was fatally shot by someone in a group of masked robbers, after police say Tidwell and his cousin were set up near Fremont High, about eight miles east from where Tidwell's dad was killed.

Conducted on the request of Ramirez's family, the autopsy found she suffered from blunt force trauma to the head and torso. In view of the clinical history and the findings at the 2nd autopsy, the cause of death of this Hispanic female, Yolanda Bustos Ramirez, is multiple blunt force trauma and asphyxiation with complications all due to and as a consequence of police restraint, the autopsy report stated. The manner of death is homicide.

They suspected the worst: their father had done it. Now a decade later, police and prosecutors have come to the same conclusion.

Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens said the search team is now shifting its radius and that the prisoner is still considered extremely dangerous. Cavalcante, who was convicted of killing his former girlfriend, 33-year-old Deborah Brandão, was sentenced to life without parole on Aug. 16.

Several members of the public allegedly saw Jala Debella carrying out the "senseless attack" on 66-year-old Anita Mukhey on Edgware Road on 9 May 2024 before "casually walking away". On Monday, jurors at the Old Bailey were told that Debella, 24, was unwell and could not attend court.

It was Jan. 17, 2025, when 82-year-old landlord Curtis Lind was walking outside his property on the 300 block of Lemon Street when an assailant wearing a mask and a black beanie stabbed him in the neck. Lind died on the sidewalk where he had lived and worked for years. Investigators later charged Maximillian Snyder with the murder, alleging Lind was targeted because he was a key witness in a previously violent attack on Lind, tied to the same group.

Donald Marler, 31, was transferred to North Kern State Prison on Jan. 7, two months after pleading no contest to voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of 38-year-old Nicholas Lord. In exchange for his plea, prosecutors threw out a murder charge, court records show. At Marler's preliminary hearing last April, a woman who was one of Lord's roommates testified that the two men started arguing about a stolen car inside their shared residence on June 7, 2022.

Court records show a Franklin county grand jury charged Michael David McKee on 16 January with aggravated murder and aggravated burglary while using a firearm suppressor. McKee, 39, a vascular surgeon who was living in Chicago, is charged in the shooting deaths of 39-year-old Monique Tepe, from whom he was divorced in 2017, and dentist Dr Spencer Tepe, 37, in their home on 30 December.
