Swansea police investigated a report of a second grade student bringing a handgun to Mark G. Hoyle Elementary School. Following the report, police took safety precautions at the school. A search warrant was executed at a Swansea residence, leading to the discovery of five unsecured, unregistered firearms and ammunition. No valid Firearms Identification Cards were found for residents. Charges are expected against two individuals. A K-9 unit searched the school, finding no weapons. Police do not believe there is an active threat to the school community.
