First lawsuit filed in deadly Fall River fire
Briefly

A lawsuit claims that Gabriel House had no emergency response procedures in place prior to a fire that killed 10 residents. Survivor Steven Oldrid, who suffered significant health issues during the incident, describes the facility as understaffed and mismanaged. His attorney noted that Oldrid felt isolated in the assisted living facility, which was poorly maintained. The parent company Gabriel Care had not responded to the lawsuit as of the latest report, while a spokesperson expressed profound grief over the tragic events that occurred.
According to Mr. Oldrid, the place was not the Taj Mahal. It was kind of a pretty run-down place. They didn't have enough staff.
As [Oldrid] calls it, 'This is kind of the last spot before you go.' He says it was really not a nice place.
The lawsuit further alleges Gabriel House did not have emergency response procedures in place leading up to the fire, which killed 10 residents and injured dozens more.
There are no words to adequately convey the depths of our grief and shock over the devastating events of July 13 at the Gabriel House.
