In late 2023, the Lorge School in Chelsea faced urgent heating and lighting issues due to outdated systems. Alfred Monacella, a grant writer at the school, collaborated with Con Ed's Tara Saber-Khiabani to address these problems. They installed an energy-efficient electric heat pump system and upgraded lighting to LEDs, resulting in a dramatic decrease in annual energy costs by approximately $40,000. This project not only improved the school's infrastructure but also ensured that students, many from challenging backgrounds, could receive consistent educational support without disruptions from infrastructure failures.
The school's annual energy costs dropped by about $40,000 after the installation of a state-of-the-art electric heat pump system and advanced LED lighting.
Tara guided us through the entire process... Her expertise was invaluable and helped us understand our options, accessing significant funding for the project.
