Wayne Lucas, 23, has been charged with attempted murder, robbery, and other offenses following the brutal assault of NYPD Officer Chowdhury Nafees. The incident occurred on May 24 as Officer Nafees returned from work. Lucas and an accomplice attacked him with a knife, leaving him unconscious, before stealing his firearm. Nafees was hospitalized in critical condition but has since been released to face a long recovery process. Lucas evaded capture initially, disguising himself in a woman's wig, but was eventually apprehended and returned to New York for arraignment.
