Investigators probe cause of Bed-Stuy fire that gutted three buildings * Brooklyn Paper
Briefly

On Wednesday afternoon, a three-alarm fire devastated buildings at 920-924 Lafayette Ave., prompting a quick response from roughly 150 firefighters. The fire, which started just after 1:30 p.m., rapidly spread through all three floors of a wood-frame building, leading to its collapse. Fire officials adopted a defensive strategy initially to control the flames, resulting in three firefighters sustaining minor injuries. Investigations into the fire's cause and structural integrity are underway as crews monitored the scene into the evening, ensuring full containment.
The fire spread so quickly, it was shocking," said Rebecca Clark-Stewart. "I thought it was going to catch more buildings on fire.
Due to the heavy fire conditions on arrival, we were forced to take a defensive stance a little after arrival," FDNY Deputy Assistant Chief Joe Duggan said.
