Greenpoint's Upright Coffee Closing This Month - Greenpointers
Briefly

Upright Coffee, a beloved Greenpoint coffee shop founded by Michael Medovoy and currently owned by Daniel Neumann, will close on June 19 after 15 years of service. Neumann expressed gratitude for the community support and the friendships developed over the years. The decision to close was difficult, as he plans to pursue other ventures. Known for distinctive drinks like the Rose Latte and Turmeric Maple Latte, Upright also served unique pastries such as the croffle, symbolizing its significant impact on the neighborhood.
After 15 incredible years, I've made the very difficult decision to close Upright Coffee.
When we opened in Greenpoint, I never could have imagined the deep sense of community and connection that would grow around this little shop.
Your support, kindness, and daily presence made Upright feel like home—for me and for so many others.
While this chapter is ending, I carry countless cherished memories—from first-time customers who became lifelong friends to watching families grow up with us over the years.
