NY Rangers Game 12 Open Thread: Rangers at Edmonton - Blue Seat Blogs
"The Rangers blanked Vancouver the other night, righting the ship defensively after a dreadful game in Calgary. Now they go up against a very dangerous Oilers team that, despite dressing 11 forwards and 7 defensemen, can and will make the Rangers pay if they get sloppy again. The Rangers did a good job limiting Edmonton on offense at MSG two weeks ago, but did so at the expense of their own offense. At some point both will click. Hopefully."
"It would be nice to see a few wins in a row, especially if one or two come against playoff teams. Edmonton is a sure fire playoff team, so a win against them goes a long way for confidence building. Throw in that it would be their second win in a row, and perhaps it's the start of something. I feel like I'm just rewording Lou Brown from Major League, but hey he was right."
The Rangers recovered defensively in a shutout of Vancouver after a poor game in Calgary. The team now faces a dangerous Edmonton Oilers squad that dresses 11 forwards and 7 defensemen and can exploit any Rangers lapses. The Rangers limited Edmonton at MSG recently but sacrificed their own scoring in doing so, creating a need for both defense and offense to click simultaneously. Securing consecutive wins, especially over playoff teams like Edmonton, would provide a significant confidence boost. Lineups list Igor Shesterkin starting for the Rangers and Stuart Skinner expected to start for the Oilers, with full forward and defensive pairings provided.
