Pierre-Luc Dubois scores first goal of season in first game back from extended injury absence
"Watching the game from up in the stands for three months made me realize any shot is a good shot,"
"It was a nice play by Stromer, puck just slid out to me, and I just needed to get it off quick."
"It wasn't perfect,"
"Game's a lot faster than when I played three months ago, but baby steps. Good players out there for me to play with, so they make my life a lot easier."
Pierre-Luc Dubois returned to the Washington Capitals after missing 47 games following an October 31 injury that required surgery. He scored on the power play with 7:12 remaining in the first period, rifling a top-shelf shot past Justus Annunen after Dylan Strome pressured and the puck slid free. The goal was Dubois's first point of the season after six scoreless October games and follows a career-high 66-point season last year. Head coach Spencer Carbery slotted Dubois between Tom Wilson and Aliaksei Protas, reforming a familiar line. Dubois logged 4:57 in the first, recorded one shot and one scoring chance, and acknowledged rust and the need for gradual progress.
