Texas gastroenterology and surgical practice victim of ransomware attack
Briefly

The InterLock ransomware site has listed Texas Digestive Specialists, claiming a data breach involving the exfiltration of 263 GB of sensitive data. Investigations showed evidence of encrypted files, particularly lab pathology reports containing protected health information (PHI). Texas Digestive Specialists has not publicly acknowledged or reported the breach, raising concerns about the timing and extent of the data compromise. As investigations continue, no official statements have been made to confirm the breach or the number of patients affected. DataBreaches has attempted to contact the group for clarification but has yet to receive a response.
The InterLock ransomware leak site recently added Texas Digestive Specialists to its listings, claiming to have exfiltrated (and leaked) 263 GB of data consisting of 16,920 folders with 215,245 files.
DataBreaches sampled selectively from the data tranche. We noticed evidence that InterLock had encrypted files and that many of files with protected health information (PHI) were .pdf files with lab pathology reports.
Lab reports contained the patient's name, date of birth, date of testing, relevant history, and findings.
As of publication, there is no report by Texas Digestive Specialists on HHS's public breach tool or the Texas Attorney General's public breach tool.
