""It's going to be a whole fresh approach," Villa-Lobos said. "There's a whole list (Kletter) prepared, a narrative for the city of what he wants to do there. So it's going to be a lot more than the old Mitchell Brothers.""
The Mitchell Brothers O'Farrell Theatre closed permanently in November 2020 after financial struggles that predated the pandemic. Most San Francisco strip clubs that shut during the pandemic have since reopened, but the O'Farrell venue remained closed until prospective new ownership stepped forward. The new owner, Evan Kletter, and project consultant David Villa-Lobos are pursuing permits to operate the space under the applicant name Club 895 at 895 O'Farrell Street. Planned changes include alcohol service, food options, karaoke, and extensive upgrades, with Kletter expecting roughly $4 million in renovations to modernize the venue.
