"The challenge that can be a Monday morning brought more grief than normal to BART commuters for the second straight week, when an equipment problem reduced service through the Transbay Tube and knocked down two service lines. All of it was resolved by 6:30 a.m., and delays from the issues were mostly over by 7:30 a.m., but it was still enough to add a jolt to a commuter's stress level."
"The latest exercise in frustration began almost immediately, with BART announcing about 5:20 a.m. that a 20-minute delay had developed in the Transbay Tube because of an equipment problem on the track. Just before 5:30 a.m., they announced that trains were moving through the Tube on one track only and that the Red and Green travel lines were closed. Both of those lines remained down until about 6:10 a.m., agency spokesperson Anna Duckworth said in an email."
An equipment malfunction in the Transbay Tube early Monday reduced BART service and forced single-track operations, closing the Red and Green lines. BART reported a 20-minute delay at about 5:20 a.m. and said trains were moving on one track only shortly before 5:30 a.m. The Red and Green lines stayed suspended until about 6:10 a.m., with service restored by 6:30 a.m. and most delays cleared by 7:30 a.m. Affected passengers were advised to transfer to Yellow Line trains between San Francisco and Antioch. The incident followed several major BART disruptions earlier in the year, including a full-system outage on May 9 and multiple localized outages and fires.
