Google Summer of Code 2024 - Going Feral on The Cloud
Briefly

The Feral project, proposed by the Typelevel community with the Scala Center's support during Google Summer of Code 2024, aims to enhance serverless function deployment for Scala developers. While initially focused on AWS Lambda, the initiative seeks to extend support to Vercel and Google Cloud, enabling developers to transition between cloud providers without significant code refactoring. This flexibility can empower developers by lessening platform dependency and facilitating smoother integration with the existing Typelevel ecosystem, such as Http4s.
The vision for Feral is to enable Scala developers to easily switch between cloud providers without major codebase refactoring, enhancing flexibility and freedom.
Working on Vercel support revealed compatibility issues between Feral and Vercel's routing, highlighting the need for future collaboration to improve integration.
