Final person sentenced to life in prison for chilling Santa Cruz CEO murder
"Camps was convicted of kidnapping and first-degree murder in the killing of Atre, the founder and CEO of corporate marketing company AtreNet, following the murder convictions of three other people connected to the case."
"On Oct. 1, 2019, the four men drove to Atre's multimillion-dollar home in Pleasure Point to steal money from his safe. When the group entered Atre's home, they found him sleeping and woke him up, zip-tied his hands and put a sock in his mouth."
"Camps stabbed Atre in the neck to silence his cries and then forced him into a BMW. Atre was subsequently driven to his cannabis farm in the Santa Cruz Mountains, where Camps shot him three times with an AR-15 rifle."
Joshua Camps received a life sentence without parole for the murder of Tushar Atre, a tech CEO, in 2019. Camps was convicted of kidnapping and first-degree murder. He was recruited by Kurtis Charters to participate in a burglary at Atre's home. During the incident, Atre was zip-tied and ultimately murdered after attempting to escape. Camps shot Atre three times with an AR-15 rifle at a cannabis farm. His body was discovered hours later, leading to the arrest of all involved in May 2020.
