Martín Zubimendi denied speculation that Real Madrid needs him after his €70 million transfer from Real Sociedad to Arsenal in July. He rejected suggestions that Xabi Alonso had viewed him as an ideal replacement for Luka Modric. Zubimendi played all 90 minutes as Arsenal beat Chelsea to reach the Carabao Cup final and has five goals and three assists in 33 appearances. Arsenal are six points clear at the top of the Premier League and became the only club to win all eight games in their Champions League group. He has adapted well but notes matches are very demanding, and teammate Mikel Merino aims to recover from a stress bone fracture in time for the World Cup.
