Social media startup Zeen is shutting down after raising $9 million
Briefly

Zeen, a venture-backed social collaging platform, has confirmed its shutdown, having raised $9 million since its founding in 2019. Cofounder Miri Buckland stated that it was clear the platform could not achieve the necessary growth to sustain itself as a VC-funded business. Initially launched as Landing, the platform was a nostalgic hit among Gen-Z but faced challenges after a rebranding to focus on the creator economy. Despite attempts to pivot with new features, the startup could not secure a long-lasting, profitable model amidst a tough social media landscape.
If there was any other way to keep it going, we would've done that. Ultimately, over the last couple of months, it became clear that it wasn't going to grow to the scale that it needed to as a VC-backed startup.
We've had products in many different iterations through Landing and through Zeen, and we hoped that this would be something that we could grow into a much bigger business.
