Global IT spending is projected to reach $6.08 trillion in 2026, a 9.8% increase over 2025. Data center systems spending surged 46.8% in 2025 to $489 billion and is forecast to top $582 billion in 2026, a 19% gain. Software spending is expected to increase 15.2%, reaching $143 billion for the year. Stronger-than-expected mobile phone purchases and the availability of AI devices contributed more than $30 billion to overall spending. Investment in AI infrastructure is intensifying demand for data center servers and AI-optimized server racks. The spending increase coincides with a predicted trough of disillusionment for emerging technologies.
