A York Regional Police officer shot and injured a male while police were trying to stop what they thought was a stolen vehicle on Thursday night in Scarborough.
The male, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was taken to a trauma centre with non-life-threatening injuries and is currently listed in stable condition.
Police responded to a call about a stolen vehicle in the area of Kennedy Avenue and Clayton Drive in Markham shortly before 7 p.m.
Police continue to have a large presence in the area of Kennedy Road and Sheppard Avenue E, with road closures in place as they investigate.
