The European Environment Agency released the bathing water assessment for 2024, declaring Slovenia and Lithuania with the cleanest coastal waters worldwide. The assessment covers 22,127 sites in 27 EU member states, Albania, and Switzerland. 85 percent of these locations met 'excellent' quality standards, with 96 percent meeting minimum standards. Coastal waters outperformed rivers and lakes regarding quality. Notably, Slovenia had 21 sites tested and Lithuania 16, both receiving top marks. Slovenia also plans to introduce a digital nomad visa in 2025.
