James Darmody, age 89, succumbed to injuries sustained from a car accident in Beckenham weeks prior. The collision occurred on May 11, resulting in Darmody being hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. After nearly three weeks of treatment, he died on May 30. In connection with the incident, a 25-year-old suspect, Kamal Cayenne-Tonge, has been charged with serious driving offenses and remains in custody. The Crown Prosecution Service will now reconsider the charges in light of Darmody's death.
