High pressure from the Atlantic will bring a heatwave to the UK, peaking over the weekend with temperatures exceeding 30°C. While cooler than previous highs in June, this heatwave is expected to last longer and cover a broader area, including Scotland, which will also meet heatwave criteria. Temperatures will peak at 31°C on Thursday and possibly reach 32°C on Friday in parts of England and Wales. The UK Health Security Agency has issued yellow Heat Health Alerts for central and southern England due to rising temperatures and high pollen and UV levels.
High pressure from the Atlantic will lead to a build in temperatures over the coming days, with heatwave criteria reached by the weekend. Whilst temperatures are expected to build day on day, becoming widely hot, they are unlikely to surpass those recorded at the start of the month.
