Greater Dayton (OH) RTA's 'Proudly Serving' Fleet Creates Community Connections Through Bus Wraps - Busline News
"The project was the vision of RTA CEO Robert Ruzinsky. He wanted to honor the communities the agency serves and highlight how its buses can connect people to these places. The bus designs emphasize points of interest in a specific community where the RTA takes riders. To capture these locations, RTA collaborated with a professional photographer to collect high-resolution photos of about 130 public locations around Montgomery County. The buses also feature a fun fact, estimated population and the year the city or township was founded."
""Greater Dayton RTA kept this under wraps (pun intended) for over a year to surprise all of us with a unique way to honor the communities they serve," City Manager Mark Schwieterman said at the time. "The truth is, this gesture reminds us of the terrific services RTA offers communities. We are humbled by the planning, coordination, and research that went into this project specific to each community. Residents will recognize things about their hometown on the buses and perhaps learn something new as well.""
Greater Dayton RTA transitioned its fleet look from yellow to green in 2008 and later introduced community-specific bus wraps beginning in 2021. RTA rolled out 21 "Proudly Serving" buses over two and a half years with wraps crafted by in-house graphic designers and the body shop. The program showcases points of interest using professional high-resolution photos of about 130 public locations and includes a fun fact, estimated population, and founding year for each city or township. Completed buses were presented at city council meetings and entered regular fixed-route service, earning positive community leader responses.
