"A New Hampshire shopper got an unwelcome surprise in her produce this week - a widow spider, she says, crawling inside her container of grapes. In a Facebook post, Calista Plaisted says she purchased Anthony's Organic red grapes from the Market Basket in Lee, New Hampshire, on Sunday. When she pulled them out of the fridge a few days later, she noticed spider webs on the grapes."
""As I pulled them out, I expected to find a small spider, but instead I discovered a widow," the post says. Plaisted told NBC10 Boston that a Google Image search showed the spider as a widow, and she later confirmed this with a University of New Hampshire expert. Plaisted said she contacted Market Basket to let them know, who, in return, said that the store had already sold out of the brand of grapes and that they would notify the supplier."
A New Hampshire shopper reported finding a widow spider crawling inside a container of Anthony's Organic red grapes purchased at Market Basket in Lee, New Hampshire. The shopper noticed spider webs when she removed the grapes from her refrigerator several days after purchase. She said she expected a small spider but discovered a widow and identified the spider by comparing images online and confirming the ID with a University of New Hampshire expert. She alerted Market Basket, which said it had sold out of that grape brand and would notify the supplier. Boston.com was unable to immediately reach the shopper, Market Basket, or the grape company.
