Musk says SpaceX will retire Dragon spacecraft amid bitter Trump dispute
Briefly

Elon Musk disclosed that SpaceX will begin decommissioning its Dragon spacecraft amid tensions with Donald Trump, who threatened to cancel government contracts with Musk's companies. The announcement follows Trump's statement that terminating Musk's governmental subsidies could save billions in the budget. The Dragon spacecraft, crucial for ferrying astronauts to the ISS, has received over $20 billion in contracts since 2008. NASA confirmed they would continue supporting the president's space objectives despite Musk’s decision, as tensions between the two continue to escalate.
Nasa relies on SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft to ferry astronauts to and from the International Space Station (ISS). Since 2008, SpaceX has received more than $20bn in government contracts.
In light of the President's statement about cancellation of my government contracts, @SpaceX will begin decommissioning its Dragon spacecraft immediately, Musk posted on the social media platform X.
Trump had posted on Truth Social that he might cancel huge lucrative contracts with Musk's businesses, stating, 'The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon's Governmental Subsidies and Contracts.'
